How is Our Garden?

How is our garden doing? I found a multitude of benefits for myself in garden in both my experience and a search of the internet articles.

Today’s picture is from my garden, apple tree, tomatoe plant and California Poppies. To produce a better crop of apples, I trimmed this apple tree in the fall. The California Poppies are wild, so I guess they are weeds? But what beautiful weeds! The Tomatoe plant exists for serving our table, from my point of view. For the bees, it is a source for honey. How many other plants do you see and identify in this picture?

Elderberry is a fascinating plant. Interestingly to produce fruit it needs another elderberry close by to cross pollinate. Don’t we need that too? We all need Vitamin C (Connection)!

For me, I haven’t been able to weed as much, or plant. I hurt my shoulder over the years flyfishing. Good news, flyfishing is great. Bad news, I hurt my shoulder. Good news, Physical therapy is helping. Bad news, my shoulder will likely be tender the rest of my life. Good news, follow the exercises and the shoulder shoulder get better. Yay

The good news is that I can use my back yard for vegetables. The bad news is that I can use the back yard as our 18 year old doggie died last month. She ate all the fresh vegetables out of the garden, it was one of her favorite hobbies. Good news and bad news all in the same paragraph!

How can we incorporate mental health, physical health in such a simple activity as gardening? Can we have just one potted plant and get benefits? Can we harvest Vitamin C? (connections) ?

See you in the garden soon…..
