Grief and ADHD it’s a journey

Does having ADHD make our grief more intense, more debilitating and last longer? Is grief a linear process? Should we embrace the grieving process? How long does grief take to be “completed”?

As usual, I have more questions than answers. Last week we euthanized our beloved pet and family member Lucy. She was 18 yo and had cancer, as well as cognitive decline, blindness, deafness and falling, slipping constantly. It was the right time for euthanasis. Fortuneatly our vetinarian has a house call service and we were in our home, loving her in the last moments on her comfortable doggy bed. As if to confirm our decision, Lucy had a seizure 10 minutes before the vet showed up in our home! My wife and I looked at each other saying, “This is Lucy saying I’m done, it is truly the right time.” Lucy had never had a seizure previously.

Cindy and I spent the weekend restructuring our home and gave all of Lucy’s foods, toys and equipment to a local pet rescue shelter. We had prepaid for cremation and a nice urn……

We know that with over sensitivity and ADHD we will need to be even more loving with each other and that it is ajourney.

Thanx in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

See a few articles attached. Please know, that none of have any perfect answers, only good questions.

Blessings

My partner died at the end of January this year so I’m deep in the grief now. I’m grateful to have the amount of support of my family and friends. I suspect the ADHD sensitivity, time confusion, and general disorganization are on Speed. Every day is more challenged with my brain on normal.
