The Culture of ADHD

Published by

Community mural reads “Culture is ADHD, ADHD is connection, connection is part of me”; banners say “Celebrate Neurodiversity” and “Unity in Awareness.”

How does culture, race and family background affect ADHD? Todays’s article points out what we may seem to know what is the “hidden” obvious. Which cultrual family background best fits your background? European born? Born in the USA? First Nation? Nuclear family? Single Family? City Person? Country person? Hispanic? Black? White? Viking? How long is this list? Asian, SE Asian? Vietnamese? Mayan? Aztec? Sioux? Ogolala? Oregonian? Floridian? Peurto Rican? AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH…. this list is forever? ????!!!!! Irish?? OK OK… the list is endless!!!

Let us know that whoever we talk to or listen to may have layers of cultural perspectives that any, many or perhaps none of us can fully understand.

The challenge for all of us is to listen and know that only each individual can understand themselves, no matter how wise or wonderful we think we are?

Who have spoken to lately in coaching or in our personal lives that we may need to reevaluate our perspective?

For me the list of people I may not understand perfectly is endless, including myself!

Blessings. Here’s hoping you enjoy the article.
