How are we doing? I see the government shutdown should end this week, yay! With all the controversy, I’m hearing and seeing people talk of “HATING” so many things. I HATE ICE, I hate Democrats, I HATE Republicans, I HATE the Homeless, I HATE billionairres, I HATE corporations, I HATE the airline delays, .I HATE Trump, I HATE Pelosi, I HATE Biden, I HATE this, I HATE that…. the list is endless.
Can we afford to HATE anything or anyone or anytime? Is there any equity in HATE?
Many of us with neurodivergency have developed a variety of secondary challenges in addition to ADHD. These include but are limited to Addictions, (overeating, alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, drugs and rock and roll)…. PTSD, Anxiety, depression, Over Sensitivity syndrome, the list goes on and on. Like Bilbo Baggins, ( The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkein) “The road goes on and on and where it stops, no one knows. ” I wonder if developing a philosophy of HATE is helping any of these challenges?
Can we afford to HATE? Is RSD something that can cripple us? What is better, love, acceptance, open mindedness, and listening to all peoples point of view. Sometimes when I’ve asked clarifying questions of people with different points of view, they get angry and defensive…. What’s up with that? We are trying to find objectivity, not subjectivity??? or is that too much to ask….?? Sometimes when we can see things from another point of view, we can even change our prospective.
The folks from the award winning Netflix documentray point out that the “Social Dilemma” divides us into factions of polarized groups. ( see web link for more information). We come to HATE anyone that is different from us. We only seek out people and opinons that agree with our philosophy and point of view online and in person. This is certainly a simplified version, but what lessons can we learn from this documentary, and this website? Are we so closed minded that we only seek and believe what we think we believe? Are we manipulated and influenced by Movies, News perspectives, Social media platforms, churches, friends, family, cultural upbringing, ethnicity, childhood upbringing, society or other information sources and life influences? Have you ever watched the same news story on CNN, NBC, CBS MSNBC, ABC, Fox News, AlJarzeera, Japanese, BBC, NPR, Conservative Talk radio and liberal talk radio, in the same day. How can each of these resources report the same news story, and they are ALL claiming or presenting to us as being absolutely correct, yet each of them is different? How can they ALL be ABSOLUTELY CORRECT?
OF course, our society is complex and there are no simple answers.
Keep in mind, that America fought a civil war over what each absolultely knew was RIGHT. I HATED the South, I HATED Lincoln, I Hated the North, States rights, Slavery, Northern aggressions, the evil of factories and industrial revolution, ( the list is endless) HATE HATE HATE!!!
Can’t we all not just get along?
Will you consider reflecting on who what or where you HATE, and consider that maybe, if we listen and keep an open mind, we might find common ground with our enemies? Can we know that HATE is an evil condition? Let’s sit down and chat with those we disagree with with an open mind. Don’t be afraid of questions, maybe we really don’t know everything?? What do you think?
For me, I’m from out of town, and don’t know nothin
