Perspectives

What a difference a Lifetime makes. I’m visiting family in Memphis. When I lived here, like today, the culture and population were predominantly people of color, and I was the exception as a Caucasian young man.

We went for a tour of the STAX Museum today. What a testimony to Soul music and a truly integrated company of people, bonded by the love of Soul, gospel, blues, soul music and joy. Blacks, Whites, Latinos and people from all nations around the world embrace the Soul music of Memphis.

Albeit, I knew about ADHD when I lived in Memphis and I was even aware that ADHD may be an issue, my providers never recognized ADHD as a primary problem. At that time, many people presumed that adults would “out grow” ADHD.

What a difference perspective may have made in my life. I wonder how much different my life may have been if ADHD would have been recognized, treated and embraced forty years ago? Then again, how many blessings, lessons and miracles may not have unfolded? I wonder now, what is the perspective on the past?

In today’s attached article , it is pointed out how culture, ethnicity and perspective color our view of ourselves and our neurodivergency. (pun intended) I wonder how many people suffer the consequences of unrecognized ADHD? These may include increased anxiety, addictions, family trauma, depression or other negative consequences.

To quote Aretha Franklin R E S P E C T yourself and and everyone, no matter what their perspective, race creed or color.
