BATMAN is a good guy, protecting the citizens of the world, he can’t be a bad guy? But, wait, isn’t Batman a vigilante hero? Punishing the under prosecuted, corrupt criminals? Where does hatred start? Where does hatred stop?
Why, you ask are you comparing vigilantism to how people are treated with neurospicieness? If a mother has post partum psychosis, does that exclude her from punishment if she hurts a child? If a person is delusional, should we punish them for hurting their neighbor? If a person is DIFFERENT, should we punish them in the work place? Should we shame a person who doesn’t communicate “correctly” Should people in the public square hold signs saying “DEATH to_____________” (fill in the blank, Jews, Blacks, Murderers, Child abusers, Abortionist, the list is endless)
I hope this blog makes us think that hatred, no matter the cause is toxic. I know, the justice system isn’t perfect. War is HELL and life is unfair. Before we judge ANYONE, let’s stop and think, pray, forgive and understand. Yes, people with neurospiciness are victims of exclusion, hate and predudice too.
I included this acedemic study on Vigilante Justice , thank you Christine Tackett for your thoughtful insights.
Where does hate START? Where does hate Stop? It’s easy to see that BATMAN is justified, but hard to justify Hitler, the KKK or killing or shaming a person in public, then they are later found to be innocent or possibly misunderstood. What about excluding the person who is different? Is it any more justified than a lynching in the public square? Hate, no matter the source is a toxic problem.
I know, I’m likely over stepping logic. But, I must ask, where does hate Start? Where does hate Stop?
Can’t we all just get along?
